01 · Why a bridge?

The team considered urban regeneration, future transport systems and construction safety before selecting bridges as its central subject. A bridge brings many technologies together while connecting previously separated places. The project invites viewers to reconsider an infrastructure they cross in everyday life.

02 · A two-day production

The team comprised two students each from Chosun University and Chonnam National University, and one each from Mokpo National University and Dongshin University. Pre-production covered brainstorming and scriptwriting; production combined location filming and narration recording; post-production brought the material together through editing. The work was completed during a two-day, one-night programme.

03 · Explaining structure through scenery

Bridges crossing cities and water, cables, towers and curved arches appear throughout the film. Narration and subtitles accompany the footage to explain structural components and bridge types. Images of construction sites and workers then move the story toward structural safety and the challenges of building.

04 · Drawing a connection

Near the end, a hand colours a bridge on paper. Red and green towers, a yellow sun and blue water fill the image. The transition from filmed bridges to a hand-drawn scene accompanies a shift from physical connections to connections between people and communities.

05 · Becoming a bridge

The closing black screen asks whether, having crossed so many bridges, we might become a bridge ourselves. What began as an explanation of infrastructure ends with an invitation for viewers to take an active role in connecting others.
